A moment of pride for us as we have been awarded the prestigious GuideStar Champion Level -Platinum certification for the fourth time in a row.
GuideStar India’s Platinum Certification is the Champion Level certification indicating that high level of accountability and good governance procedures are adopted by the organisation.
Millions of Indians lost their livelihoods due to the Covid-19 pandemic, particularly after the devastating second Delta wave of early 2021. As always, the already underprivileged, like the daily wage earners and women and children who live in urban slums, were among the worst hit.
Sukarya, which works to empower women and children in the slums of Delhi and Gurugram, quickly swung into action.
Meera Satpathy, founder of Sukarya, shares her views on the importance and the critical role that parents/ caregivers have in bringing up their girl child/ children, these are girl children from the less privileged communities. And yet, there are heroes like Shaista and Priya who have bloomed and blossomed to carve their destiny.

When Ms Shree Saini, the first ever Indian-born Miss World America became Miss World Runner Up and the Beauty with a Purpose Ambassador, it was a glorious moment for a young woman who has come a long way overcoming hardships and struggles, losses and pains, and it made her stand out. Shree stood out as the tallest participant by way of her own personal victories and how she had managed to lead herself in the entire selection process. The life journey of Shree is indeed a salute to a brave young lady.

It was an unique Fashion Walk to celebrate Women’s Day on March 6, 2022 at Sukarya, Gurugram. Gorgeous, beautiful and confident ladies of all age groups from all walks of life walked on the ramp to the tune of Bollywood music to salute our young adolescent girls from slum communities of Delhi and Gurugram under our Gender Equality Program.
The Haryana Steelers announced a collaboration with Sukarya, a not-for-profit organization, to celebrate young women leaders and provide a platform for their voices. As part of this partnership, the JSW Sports-owned franchise selected 25 young girl leaders who will be the team’s match mascots in the ongoing season of the Pro Kabaddi League.
Well done Team Sukarya. It is a matter of pride that Sukarya has been selected by Give India as one of the 10 NGOs of India, working for encouraging education of girls among underprivileged communities on the occasion of International Day of Education and National Girl Child Day.
Fidelity International and Sukarya are very excited to be working together to tackle Anemia and Malnutrition in the 8 slums location of Delhi.

Sukarya organized an event on 27 September 2021 in Government School Ranyala Village, Firozpur Jhirka Block, Nuh District to celebrate Poshan Maah. “It was a delightful day at Sukarya to meet our ‘Lead Girls’ of Gender Equality program. The girls looked so confident, so sure and carrying healthy self esteem on their persona. I was very proud of my team and very proud of the girls. I could share their intent, talents, and their stories.
On 7 August 2021 certificates were awarded to students of ‘Education on Wheels’, Delhi who have cleared the Open Basic Education (OBE) Exam conducted by NIOS. They passed their examinations successfully and got these certificates. Now they are ready to join regular schools. The students were overwhelmed with joy. More than them, Sukarya ‘s team was overjoyed and felt triumphant.

Sukarya is now a Girls Opportunity Alliance featured organization and this partnership will strengthen our Adolescent Girls Empowerment and Leadership Program. Through a 12-month initiative, it will provide them knowledge, lifeskills, leadership training and resources to complete their schooling and acquire skills to navigate their lives with greater awareness and results.

The art of giving something to someone without the expectation of return is the most gratifying experience which many have gone through in these difficult times of the pandemic. Not only corporates, civil society organisations and NGOs but also resident welfare associations, children, young people and student alumni associations have stepped forward to give their time, mobilise resources, funds, medicines, equipment and food for those who need it most.
On 20th April 2021, the Education on Wheels project team initiated online classes for the academic year 2021-22 to ensure that learning never stops. New batches have been formed at all 4 slum locations of Delhi.

One would not have been able to recognise the students of EOW, had they met them a couple of months ago. These students were involved in aimless pursuits which included domestic chores, picking up rags from nearby areas and sometimes even getting involved in nefarious activities. The story is different now. These children now have access to ‘Education on Wheels’.
Fun time – Sukarya at ADHM 2019 Airtel Delhi Half Marathon has brought the ‘running culture’ to North India, it is already the most popular Half Marathon across the world! It provides a befitting opportunity and excellent platform to break the barrier, celebrate the community spirit of participation and run for a greater cause for fundraising.
The Physiotherapy clinic was started with an aim to manage pain related issues of poor women who work in residential colonies or live in slums. It has been 21 years of meaningful existence.
30 July 2019 was a “Meet and Greet” day at village Rupabas of Tijara block in Alwar District of the State of Rajasthan. After almost three hours of driving and crossing many townships and villages in between, we reached this village of the Mewat region of Rajsthan with a mission in our hearts.
On 15 July 2019 the children of our Education on Wheels ‘EOW’ program crossed a hurdle and saw themselves coming closer to another step to their success. They passed their examinations successfully and got certificates of recognition.

Diwali is synonymous with dispelling of darkness being a festival of lights. And a happy coincidence is the birth of Sukarya – an equal when it comes to lighting up the darkest corners of lives of women and girls.

Sukarya and Sukarya USA became the community partner for the United State of Women’s Summit (USOW) in 2018. We are thrilled to be partnering with @USOWomen to bring together 5,000 women, girls, and allies who are committed to finding solutions to gender inequity at United State of Women’s Summit (USOW).
The Education on Wheels students of Sukarya participated in an awareness campaign “Swachh Chetna” to promote the message of “Clean City, Green City, My Dream City” on 7 April 2018 at Huda city centre, Gurugram. The event was organized by The Shri Ram School Moulsari, in collaboration with the Delhi Metro Railway Corporation.

This was 2nd in the series of a Pop-up Live Counter Cooking Demo by Chef Chetan Spall. Some old recipes with a new twist were presented. Health isn’t overrated anymore and the most minute of contributions in moving towards healthy eating is an achievement.
What better way to bring in the new year! Sukarya stepped up to the occasion and spread joy, cheer and of course compassion and understanding in abundance. The organisation of a carnival in the grounds of Sukarya on the 30th December 2017 drew enthusiasts and well wishers from far and wide.
A winter afternoon well done. A cooking demo by the talented Chef Geetika Sahdev and Chef Rajesh was organised for all at Sukarya to tantalise their palates.
