Global Recognition of Local Change
In November 2025, the Gates Foundation, in partnership with The Better India, featured Meera Satpathy, Founder & Chairperson of Sukarya, in their “She’s the Change” series—celebrating women changemakers shaping India’s future.
The feature highlights Sukarya’s grassroots journey and the impact of women-led, community-driven action in transforming health, education, and gender equality outcomes for women, children, and adolescents in underserved communities.
What began as a refusal to accept poverty, ill-health, and lost childhoods as inevitable has evolved into decades of sustained action—from doorstep health services to Education on Wheels, from empowering women to strengthening adolescent voices.
This recognition is a proud moment for Sukarya and the communities it serves, reaffirming a simple belief:
when women lead, communities rise.
